How to Prepare for a Phone Interview

Getting a phone interview is a great achievement in its own right. It means your resume stood out from hundreds of others, or that you've made a significant impression on the hiring authority in some other way. But this isn't the time to rest on your laurels. Chances are good that you are among a small handful of potential recruits, which means the competition is fiercer than ever.

Preparing for a successful phone interview

The old saying goes that preparation is half the battle, and that is especially true for a phone interview. According to Kent University, interviews over the phone tend to last between 20 and 30 minutes, with some stretching out to a full hour. Not only must you prepare to provide interesting, insightful answers to a battery of questions, but you'll need to arrange for a quiet space, as well. The last thing you want is to have to conduct the interview from a noisy environment.
