Partnering to Migrate Mainframe for Multiple Business Units
Challenge
A large financial services company was seeking a partner to assist with the completion of an active mainframe retirement program that had fallen off track. The project included moving their existing infrastructure to a modern technology-based solution in a short timeframe with three types of business that were managed as separate projects
Solution
Beacon Hill Technologies’ project resources included:
• Five Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)—COBOL / IDMS / JCL / SYNCSORT to write BRDS with requirements from batch jobs
• Eleven Developers—.NET 4.5, SQL server DB, DMX Syncsort
• Five testers for unit integration
• One overall program test lead
The Results
We were awarded two of the three project teams within the program and provided all COBOL SMEs and the overall program test lead. We sourced, screened, interviewed, and filled all positions within six days of award, and they were onboarded together, two weeks from the award date.
