BH Technologies® Case Study

High-quality Developers for a Mobile Services Team

Challenge

Our client, an American telecommunications and mass media company, needed immediate assistance building out their mobile services team. Prior to engaging with Beacon Hill, They partnered with two onshore / offshore vendors to staff their team with development resources. Underqualified candidates were due to proper vetting was missed during onboarding. This led to poor core coding production that did not meet the company’s standards; causing delayed deployments and duplication of efforts. Beacon Hill was asked to come in and help build out a new model to recruit quality resources to perform core development work on one of the company’s largest initiatives.

Solution

Our solution involved gaining a deeper understanding of the project, as well as the core technologies required of their ideal resources. To do this, we collaborated to create a robust vetting process and technical screening that mirrored their interviews and technical screenings, for better vetting upfront. We conducted a multi-step interview process with live, recorded technical screenings that were able to highlight the candidates core competencies and capabilities. This allowed leadership to have confidence in the candidates onboarding to be effective on day one. Once the team was onboarded, we held onsite workshops, which allowed a standardization of goals and initiatives across the project. From there, Beacon Hill deployed an engagement management approach, which entailed one-on-one meetings with the team. This approach also allowed us to address gaps, escalate concerns, and manage the budget while continually addressing the backlog.

The Results

Overall, we achieved a 90 percent retention rate with the resources deployed on this project. Furthermore, we are viewed as a true partner to the client. We thoroughly understood the project scope, technology requirement, and team dynamic to cohesively integrate a team of twenty resources within their existing environment.
