Beacon Hill Has Won the Comparably Award for Best Company for Diversity
January 4th, 2021
Beacon Hill has been named as a recipient of a Comparably Award as a ‘Best Company for Diversity’. Beacon Hill ranked #50 in the Large Companies category and was one of four companies on the list that are headquartered in Massachusetts. As an HR solutions expert, we have sought to listen and learn from our diverse constituents so that we can continually improve our own company culture, as well as to help shape our clients’ workforce plans.
Rankings were determined based on anonymous feedback from employees of color answering a combination of questions in core culture metrics, from compensation and leadership, to work environment and professional development opportunities.
Beacon Hill’s mission is to build and sustain a system of resources, procedures, policies, and plans that support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for all. In 2021, our DEI taskforce and company leadership will continue to partner with a certified minority and woman-owned consulting firm to help build our knowledge to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. While diversity in the workplace has always been a focus at Beacon Hill, in 2019 we took our first formal steps toward a sustainable DEI practice. We sought out a DEI consulting firm that engaged with our executive committee to examine the company’s current state and to recommend best practices for the future. This engagement led to our first DEI seminar, where our entire senior leadership team met in-person to be trained on the topic of unconscious bias. An outpouring of enthusiasm following the seminar inspired the formal rollout of our companywide DEI program.
Led by a team of African American men and women, Latinx, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, Beacon Hill’s DEI taskforce represents employees from a variety of roles, divisions, and locations throughout the company. Together, this team is the driving force that connects impacted communities within and around Beacon Hill. As we look to the future, the DEI Taskforce will serve as ambassadors for an inclusive Beacon Hill culture while helping to drive systemic change throughout our reaches.
“I’m not surprised that Beacon Hill is being recognized as one of the best companies for diversity,” said Brian Kelley, Regional Vice President and Beacon Hill DEI Chairman. “I and DEI taskforce committee members are committed to continuing to help build a more inclusive company that supports, provides opportunities and is reflective of the customers, communities and employees that we serve."
“We have worked diligently to sustain a system of resources, procedures, policies, and plans to support diversity, equity, and inclusion at Beacon Hill,” said Andrew Wang, CEO and DEI Co-Chair. “It is very rewarding to see these efforts recognized by the members of our community.”
